Choose a college major by relating aptitudes, interests and abilities to major and career goals
Discuss colleges and expectations, identify requirements and match with achievements and abilities, rank colleges, request information, complete applications, and write personal essays.
Discuss financial aid, application deadlines, fee waivers, scholarships and internships, and completing applications. Provide counseling on debt management and loan default.
Provide information on educational benefits through the Veterans Administration.
Support students with issues such as housing, employment, PTSD, and substance abuse
Work closely with students and their families when necessary, to support them with challenges
Enhance self-esteem and personal confidence by identifying self-defeating behaviors, confronting fears, and goal setting.
Support the balance of school, work and family commitments
Support students with study skills (note-taking, test-taking, time-management, etc.)
Incorporate education as internet tools to support counseling
Counseling Requirements are:Completion of MAPP, FAFSA, Scholarship Search, submitting copies of college applications, and copies of college enrollment paperwork.
