Blackouts are not the same as “passing out.” A person can be actively involved in a moment, yet his/her level of alcohol consumption prevents the brain from forming memories. Blackouts are dangerous, not only for the negative impact on the brain, but also for safety reasons. It is scary to forget what you did or said, and, often, what you cannot remember has consequences. Once blackouts start happening to a person, they begin to happen more easily and more quickly than they used to, which can lead to a number of negative health and safety related issues.
