Sober Housing

Sober Housing
The University of Pennsylvania has an exciting opportunity for students who are in recovery. Students, if eligible, are able to live with students who are in recovery and receive emotional, social and environmental support in maintaining their sobriety. Students in Sober Housing socialize together as well as with other friends. There is an emphasis on doing well in school and having a fun sober time in college.

Sober Housing is just one of many special housing options available to students at the Penn. Sober Housing has several distinctive features:

Supervision
There is an agreement to abide by all the guidelines of Sober Housing. The Drug and Alcohol Coordinator from Counseling And Psychological Services will have regular meetings with students and offer individual therapy and family therapy sessions as needed. Students who are new to recovery will meet with a counselor throughout the first semester. Residential Staff will be given additional training in the area of recovery from substance abuse.

Selection
For Sober Housing the student is required to interview with the Coordinator of Drug and Alcohol at Counseling And Psychological Services. If the student is eligible, the student will be assigned housing.  Interested students should contact Ken Meehan, LCSW at 215.898.7021 to get more information or schedule an appointment. As there are a limited number of spaces available, it is important to apply early.
