Presidential Management Information Session
If you are interested in a career with the federal government, the PMF is a wonderful way to begin your career. One recent graduate wrote that through this fellowship, she "secured job in federal service and highly recommends this as a source for numerous opportunities regardless of field." Graduate students from all academic disciplines who expect to complete an advanced degree (master's, law, or doctoral-level degree) from a qualifying college or university during the 2009-2010 academic year (September 1, 2009 - August 31, 2010) are eligible to be nominated by their schools for the upcoming 2009 application period. The application for the PMF Class of 2010 is expected to open October 1, 2009 and close October 15, 2009. For more information about the Presidential Management Fellowship, see http://www.pmi.opm.gov/. Attend this workshop to learn about the fellowship and the nominating process. Penn staff involved in nominating and former/current Fellows will attend.
Department of Homeland Security Information Session

Making an Impact on Climate through a Career at the EPA
Presented by Kristen Taddonio, Lead, Strategic Climate Projects, Climate Protection Partnerships Division U.S. EPA
As a graduate student, Kristen Taddonio often heard that environmental issues were a trade-off: companies could pursue profits or environmental protection, but not both. Now, six years later, Kristen is using her position at the EPA to prove that profitability and climate protection oftentimes go hand-in-hand. As head of Strategic Climate Projects EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division, she works with businesses and organizations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by saving energy, switching to climate-friendly refrigerants, and speeding market adoption of emerging technologies. Kristen will discuss her experience working for the federal government, and will also highlight opportunities for other young people of all majors interested in environmental careers at the U.S. EPA.
For Employers:
About the Event: The Policy and Government Career Fair will be open to the approximately 10,000 undergraduate students and 8,000 graduate students who are served through the Career Services office at the University of Pennsylvania as well as to current students at three other private liberal arts schools: Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swathmore. The fair will be an excellent way for government agencies and contractors, policy and political organizations, and think tanks to connect with civically minded students from these four premier institutions.
The University of Pennsylvania is one of five schools to receive the 2009 Partnership for Public Service Call to Serve grant to promote federal service careers.
Cost: The registration fee for the Policy and Government Career Fair is $125 for government and non-profit organizations and $200 for for-profit organizations. Registration fees are payable by check or credit card. Note: In consideration of the federal budget fiscal year start of October first, federal agencies need not pay upon registration. The fee includes a table and a lunch for up to two representatives.
