Appointments & Walk-Ins

School of Engineering and Applied Science
Graduate School of Education, Social Policy and Practice, and School of Nursing
School of Arts and Sciences, Design, and Medicine

Career Services counselors are available to discuss concerns regarding career planning and job hunting during appointments, walk-ins and mock interviews. Walk-in appointments are 15-minute meetings available on a first-come first-served basis, appointments are half-hour meetings scheduled in advance and mock interviews are one-hour practice sessions designed to sharpen your interviewing skills. Video recording is available for mock interviews upon request.

During walk-in times, counselors are available to answer your questions or review your documents during 15-minute time slots. Given the limited time, you should use walk-in appointments to get answers to specific questions you have, or to have a preliminary review of your job application materials.

These times, and the specific counselors who are scheduled to take walk-ins each day are subject to change. It is best to call ahead to confirm that walk-ins are being held.

QUICK TIP: Check out the Job Search Materials page on our website before your appointment, if you are interested in getting a review of your cover letter, CV, resume, or other written correspondence. There are useful resources on this page that can help you develop a more effective draft that we can then review with you.

Practice Interview Sessions
You may schedule a video practice interview with a Career Services counselor who will help you present yourself to employers more effectively. The counselor will ask you types of questions you may get in an interview, will record and play back the mock interview so that you can discuss how you did, and what strategies you might use to answer certain types of questions more effectively. Call to schedule a 45-minute mock interview; if you wish, you may then email the counselor with whom you will be meeting to let them know for what type of position you will be interviewing. You can also send the job announcement and your application materials ahead of time as well, as this can help us put together a list of the general types of questions that you might be asked during your interview.
