PennDesign Career Connections Day 2007
Frequently Asked Questions

IMPORTANT UPDATES (3/26/2007):

Penn Design Career Connection Day was a big success. Thank you to all who attended. If you missed the fair, but would like to recruit PennDesign students, consider participation on our Virtual Career Fair.

Though it has now opened to students, you may still partcipate in the Virtual Career Fair! See more information below.

What is PennDesign Career Connection Day 2007?

Career Connection Day is a one day career fair where employers stand at tables and present information on their organization to students and recent graduates. Students can ask questions, dicuss their interest and provide their resumes.

The next Career Connection Day will be Friday, March 23, 200, 1:30-4:00 p.m.

What is the PennDesign Virtual Career Fair?

To help employers who cannot attend Career Connection Day, we offer an annual Virtual Career Fair.  For two weeks, employers will collect resumes electronically from students interested in their organization. This process is automated through PennLink, Career Services' job posting / resume collecting board. Through this process we hope that you will interview and hire qualified PennDesign students and recent graduates for positions with your firm.

*If you plan to attend the in-person fair on March 23, please DO NOT register for the Virtual Fair.*

The next Virtual Career Fair will be March 19-March 30, 2007.

How do I register for the fairs?

Registration is easy and takes only a moment to complete.

To register for the in-person Career Connection Day on March 23, please fill out the registration form by clicking here. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with complete details for the day shortly after you register.

If you can not attend the fair on March 23, please register for our Virtual Career Fair by clicking here. Fill out the form completely, including descriptions of any job openings you may have available. Then on March 30th, you can log back into PennLink to download the resumes of students who expressed interest in your organization. A complete set of instructions on how to download the resumes will be sent to you after you register.

Can I send displays and materials in advance?

Yes! You can ship displays and other materials a few days in advance of the Career Connection Day to:

University of Pennsylvania School of Design
Attn: Karl Wellman
G29 Meyerson Hall
210 South 34th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19104-6311

What else should I know?

Most employers are sufficiently happy with the contact they make with students during the 2 ½ hour fair. Some employers like to make a presentation on their firm and/or schedule interviews with students the night before Career Connection Day or the next day. We try to accommodate those requests by reserving a room in Meyerson Hall when possible. If interested, send an e-mail message to Michael DeAngelis, Graduate Student Assistant, Career Services at jmdeange@pobox.upenn.edu.  We’re happy to post announcements of presentations/interviews but it will be the responsibility of your firm to schedule the interviews.

What about School of Design Resume Books?

We also invite you take advantage of the opportunity to download the PennDesign Resume Books.  By registering for either the Career Connection Day or the Virtual Fair, you are automatically eligible to download the resume books starting on February 5, 2007.

To download the resume books, simply log into PennLink, click on "Resume Books" and select the book or books you want. You may view any individual resume by clicking on it, or to view them all, select all the resumes displayed and click "Generate Book" to receive a downloadable PDF packet of the entire book.
