Ideas for Collaboration
Counselors in Career Services appreciate the unique relationship you have with your students. We would
be pleased to support your programs and involve you in ours.
What We Do

We would be glad to present information about Career Services, or answer any questions about

Speak in classes and work with Student Advisory Boards on special programs or workshops
We are often invited to come to classes, senior seminars, graduate programs to speak with
students about crucial career issues related to their studies, and/or to offer special seminars on
career options for specific disciplines/majors. Please let us know if you’d like us to prepare a
panel or program for your students. (

Work with you to collect additional data on your alumni and current students
Because we already have excellent instruments for surveying alumni, departments have
occasionally asked us to help them survey their specific alumni. Please let us know if you would
be interested in such a collaboration. (

What You Can Do
Speak at Career Services programs and panels
We host over 300 programs and workshops each year. Some of these are directed toward
graduate students, and are comprised of faculty presenters; others (focused more toward
undergraduates) could greatly benefit from faculty participation. Please let us know if you would
be available to participate in career-related programming. (

Serve as a Health Professions Advisory Board (HPAB) Member
The Health Professions Advisory Board assists undergraduates and alumni applying to graduate
programs in the health professions by running mock interviews with students and providing
feedback, and is an essential part of students’ application to medical, veterinary, or dental school.

Identify alumni who want to participate in career programs or panels
We make extensive use of alumni/ae as panelists or solo speakers. If you know of graduates
from your program who you think would be good speakers, we’d be glad to include them in
upcoming panels. (

Encourage your students to use Career Services
Many students look to their faculty for direction and guidance on “what to do next.” Please
encourage your students to visit our
website and use our services. Career Services counselors
have a great deal of experience with a wide range of career issues and choices, and we are
eager to help students at all stages of their careers.
