Services

Counseling
Advisors are available to advise undergraduates and alumni with their questions about the application process, course requirements (if applicable), resumes and essays, developing a list of schools, and many of the other application components. Appointments should be scheduled in advance either in person at Career Services or via telephone at 215-898-1789. For alumni who are no longer in the Philadelphia area, telephone appointments are available.

Essay and Resume Critiques
Advisors are able to critique your essays and resumes for graduate/professional school applications. If you are having trouble developing the content of your essay or would like to discuss options in more detail, feel free to make an appointment with an advisor. We ask that applicants allow 5-7 working days for a full written critique and advisors can provide two critiques of each document per applicant.

Graduate/Professional School Programming
Throughout the year, a full programming schedule for applying to graduate/professional school is sponsored by Career Services to provide students with relevant information on preparing for, and being successful in, the admissions process. Career Services also coordinates a variety of panels each semester focusing on specific graduate programs, in which admissions staff, faculty, and graduate students are often represented at these programs.

Presentations by representatives of graduate/professional programs are held throughout the year, but primarily in the fall semester. These information sessions provide students with an opportunity to meet with an admissions representative and find out more information about their particular programs and institutions.

Library
Located directly across from the Reception area, the Career Services Library contains a variety of graduate and professional school resources. Reference materials on various graduate programs, standardized test preparation guides, as well as information about financial aid and essay writing are located in the graduate school section. In addition to our regular office hours (9am-5pm), Monday through Friday, the Library is open until 6pm a few evenings each week.

Hours and Location

Career Services is open from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. During the academic year, the Career Services library is open until 6pm, Monday through Wednesday.

Our offices are on the ground floor of the McNeil Building, Suite 20, 3718 Locust Walk. McNeil is located between 37th and 38th Streets and an entrance to our office is located directly across from Vance Hall.

Appointments and Walk-In Hours

Appointments with advisors should be scheduled in advance by stopping at the Pre-Graduate/Professional desk or by calling 215-898-1789. In addition, some Walk-In Hours are available to students and alumni each week.

Pre-Health Walk-In Hours for the semester are:

  • Wednesdays, 2:00-4:00pm

Pre-Law Walk-In Hours for the semester are:

  • Thursdays, 2:00-4:00pm
