Overview of Career Services Library Resources
STOP BY!
The Career Services Library is packed with great things to help you set your career goals and conduct a good job search, prepare a graduate/professional school application,
or seek funding. The items are easily accessible and lots of signage or personal help is available.
Tours at the beginning of each semester give a short overview of how to best use all of our resources. For more ideas, Library
Bibliographies in a notebook at the front of the Library, will guide you to various areas of interest.
The Library is arranged into distinct interest areas; such as, Arts/Cultural,
Engineering/Technical etc. There are additional areas for General Occupations, Career Decision Making,
Geographic sections of the country, Internships, Funding, and General Directories. The Library
Notebook at the front of the Library (as well as this website) will list the various book titles in
each section. This notebook will also have many bibliographies of materials in our Library; e.g.,
Minority (Including Women, ALANA and GLB) Information, Temporary Work, Information for those Changing
Careers or Returning to Work, Case Interview Information, Greater Philadelphia Area Information etc.
Some of these Bibliographies are included on this website.
Each of the separate areas of the Library has periodicals, directories, and books
about careers in that field. Additional relevant items shelved in other areas of interest are listed
in the Library Notebook as cross references. Some of the sections, Elementary/Secondary Education,
Medical/Health/Nursing and Architecture/ Landscape/Historic Preservation in particular, have employer
literature as well.
The Graduate Study Information section has directories and guides for programs,
funding and admissions. The section includes Alum guides and comments, admission statistics and
practice exams.
Company Literature and Videos, mainly focusing on companies interviewing on campus,
occupy the enitre back section of the Library. Recruiter Card files, and Bidding
Results of the previous year precede this section.
You will also find 4 computers. .Among other programs on our
website, you will find "SIGI3," an on-line career exploration program,
which will walk you through the process of thinking about your career goals,
and give you a great deal of information about career fields. Directions for
use of "SigiPlus" are posted at the computer.
MAKE IT A HABIT TO STOP IN NOW AND THEN. Either check for new materials, review
some previously discovered sources or go more in depth into some career area.
Sorry, no materials may leave the library, however we do have a copy machine for you to use.
Library hours are 9-5 and 9-7 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when classes are in session.
