Each year Career Services surveys graduates of the School of Nursing to identify their post-graduation plans. This report summarizes information reported by the December 1999, May 2000 and August 2000 graduates who responded to the survey.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing students returned surveys at a rate of 35 percent (35 responses from 100 graduates). They reported their plans upon graduation as follows:

Salary Information
Salaries for the 32 respondents who reported their salaries ranged from $32,000 to $58,500 with an average of $44,419. This represents a 4% increase over the 1999 average salary of $42,591. Some graduates reported receiving financial incentives like bonuses, additional pay for shift differentials and relocation assistance. Nursing salaries are consistently among the highest of all undergraduate salaries at the University.
Six respondents reported employment in Philadelphia. The salaries ranged from $37,835 to $40,726, with an average of $39,552. The average salary in Philadelphia increased by 5% over last year’s average.
Nine respondents reported employment in New York. The salaries in New York ranged from $50,000 to $58,500 with an average of $54,696. The average salary in New York represents a 3% increase over last year’s average.

in the process of seeking new employment.
1999-2000 Salary Information
Thirty-two respondents reported salaries for new full-time positions, which
ranged from $34,112 to $95,000 with an average of $58,464. This represents a 5.7% increase over
last year’s average of $55,143.
The average salary of the twelve respondents who reported salaries and
continued their current employment was $59,267 with a range of $35,000 -
$83,200. This represents a 23.4%
increase from the 1999 average of $45,375.

Career Plans Surveys were received from nine of the 19 doctoral recipients. This represents a 48% rate of return. Seven of these graduates remained in the northeast while 2 have moved to the west. Four have accepted part-time employment, two
accepted full-time employment and one accepted a post-doctoral fellowship. The average salary for the four graduates employed in full-time positions is $68,750. Out of the eight graduates who are employed (part of full-time) six are working in academic settings and two are working in health care settings.
