Meet Kevin Ecker

Your major and date of graduation:
Mechanical Engineering, 2007

What are you doing after graduation?
Working for J.J. Delula as project engineer in Philadelphia

What is the one piece of advice you have for underclassmen about deciding on a career or job?
The one piece of advice I have for underclassmen is to keep your options open and not limit yourself by thinking you do not have enough experience for any one particular field.

Did you have an internship with the organization that you will be working for full-time?
No

What career paths have you been considering?
Project engineer or assistant project manager in a construction management firm.

What influenced your decision for your post graduation plans?
I enjoyed working in the field and do not want to start graduate school right away.

What do you think made you most marketable as a candidate for the position for which you were hired?
Having a related internship.

When did you start looking?
September ‘06

How long did it take to find a job?
3 months

How did you develop your interviewing skills?
Going on lots and lots of interviews.

What is the one thing you wish you knew as an undergraduate at Penn?
Your major is not necessarily related to your career path.
