For Students in the School of Social Policy and Practice

To obtain a license, an applicant must present information to the state licensing board to meet their requirements for licensure. The majority of states require a degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, a specific number of hours of supervised experience, and a written examination. Below is a recommended list of documents to maintain and secure. While you may not need all of the documents below for licensure/certification, they may be required for employment or credentialing.

  • Transcripts
  • Course syllabi
  • Degrees
  • Certificates of continuing education
  • Proof of hours of supervision
  • Security clearances
