Patricia Rose, Director / 215.898.3208 / prose@upenn.eduPat_1_web_quality_crop.jpgPatricia Rose, a native of Ohio, is Director of Career Services. In a previous life she worked with Wharton MBA's, and ran a program to help non-business PhD's make the transition to the corporate world. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English, and before embarking on an administrative career she taught English at St. Lawrence University, and at Penn, where she did her graduate work. Pat Rose speaks frequently to students, alumni and business groups on career management topics and employment trends, and is a member of numerous professional associations. She serves on the School Committee (board of trustees) of Germantown Friends School. In her spare time she enjoys golf, theater, wine and a good meal. She knows where things are on her messy desk.
Mylene Kerschner, PennLink Manager & Job and Internship Coordinator / 215.898.4827 / mylene@upenn.eduMylene returned to Career Services in 2015 after four years planning events at The Ritz-Carlton in St. Thomas and the Philadelphia Marriott.  She began working in the Career Services office right after graduating from the University of Richmond, where she was an English and History double-major.  Mylene has assisted students and employers in her various roles as On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator, Assistant to the Wharton and Engineering teams, and Information Resources and Web Manager.  In her current role, Mylene meets with students and works directly with employers to cnnect students with job and internship opportunities.  She also manages both the PennLink and iNet databases.  Although Mylene loved her few years planning weddings in the Caribbean, she is delighted to be back home in Philadelphia and at Penn.
J. Michael DeAngelis, Information Resources & Web Manager / 215.898.7402 / jmdeange@upenn.eduMichael_resize.jpgSupervising office technology, all aspects of our online presence, career surveying and statistics, and the Career Services library are just a few of the tasks that fall under Michael's pervue. He began work in Career Services in 2004 and has served as the assistant for the CAS and Graduate Students groups before moving into his current position. He also served as the Arts & Cultures Coordinator for College Houses and Academic Services from 2007-2009 and has been the Director of Penn Life Sketches for the office of New Student Orientation and Academic Initiatives since 2008. As part of his work in Career Services, he sits on the Health Professions Advisory Board and the Hoesley Digital Literacy Fellows Program committee. He received his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Muhlenberg College and studied performance and theater criticism at Goldsmith's College, University of London. Outside of Career Services, Michael is a professional actor, director and playwright. He is the managing director of The Porch Room film and theater company. His award winning plays are available from Samuel French, Inc.
Sue Russoniello, Operations Manager / 215.898.4400 / russonie@upenn.eduSue_resize.jpgSue Russoniello is the Manager of Operations and Business Administrator, in charge of payroll, purchasing and facilities issues for the office.  She is in her 17th year at Career Services.  Through her years working in this office, she has also coordinated job and internship postings, served as Assistant to the Director as well as the College of Arts & Sciences unit.  Prior to joining Career Services, Sue worked as a paralegal and also owned and operated her own word processing business.  She has a B.A. from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and lives in New Jersey.

Beckie is the friendly face of the front desk and she enjoys directing students to the resources they need for career success. Additionally, she assists pre-health students and faculty with processing letters of recommendation, and she is part of the team behind @penncareerserv on Twitter. She has her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Wyoming and has been a customer service professional for 8 years. Beckie recently moved from Boulder, Colorado where she worked for the North American headquarters of Crocs footwear.

Marlene Cohen, Recruiting Manager / 215.898.4379 / marcohen@upenn.eduMarlene_resize.jpgMarlene L. Cohen joined Career Services in 1980 as an administrative assistant managing job and internship job listings.  She also assisted with the application process for graduate and professional schools and scheduled law and business graduate schools' visits on campus.  She then began managing and maintaining the office information systems.  In 1989, she joined the On Campus Recruiting staff as the University Recruiting Coordinator where she managed on campus visits for over 450 corporate clients interested in hiring Penn students for full time and summer internships.  Now as Recruiting Manager, she also manages on campus recruiting visits that include 12,000+ student interviews and 300+ employer information sessions each year.  Marlene has been very active in the annual EACE conferences and has served as chairperson for many EACE committees over the years.
Debra Koita, Recruiting Manager / 215-898-3219 / smiley@upenn.eduDebra_01.jpgDebra Koita, a native New Orleanian, joined Career Services in 1991.  She came to Philadelphia in 1987 when asked by her former employer to join him in starting the Sickle Cell Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she was Executive Assistant and Liaison to the Sickle Cell Parents' Support Group.  Prior to her current role in the Career Services office, Debra was the assistant for the Graduate School Counseling unit as well as the Marketing Coordinator.  She is currently one of two managers of On-Campus Recruiting, where she manages and oversees employer relationship stragtegy and service delivery, marketing, and recruiting events across all industries.  She is also the marketing coordinator for the Career Services manual, Pathways.  Debra attended both Tulane University and the University of Pennsylvania in pursuit of her degree.  She is the mother of two teenage children and is active on the Parent/Teacher associations at both their schools.  In addition to her current work, Debra is a calligrapher and wedding coordinator.  She is an avid and award winning gardener, and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, movies and relaxing in her urban garden oasis.   
Leon Malloy, Recruiting Assistant / 215-898-5740 / lmalloy@upenn.eduLeon_resize.jpgLeon Malloy joined Career Services in 2012 and has been in his current role since February 2013.  He provides assistance to the on-campus recruiting managers in scheduling interview dates and information sessions for 400 employers annually, and also acts as a service administrator for PennLink.  During the recruiting season, Leon can be found in the On-Campus Recruiting Suite as Career Services' recruiting representative, maximizing the interview experience for employers and students.  He manages all invoicing and statistics for the OCR facility, tracks student interview cancellations, and follows-up with students in violation with policy.  Leon graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2009 with a BA in English, and before moving to Philadelphia in 2011, was an ESL instructor at Saint Gabriel's College in Bangkok, Thailand.  He loves cooking meals with fresh ingredients, cultivating his container garden of succulents and cacti, and exploring new restaurants, neighborhoods and cities.

Anne Marie Gercke, Associate Director / agercke@upenn.eduAnne_Marie_1410805814_resize.jpgAnne Marie joined the University of Pennsylvania Career Services team in February 2012 and provides career and internship guidance to undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences. Anne Marie's professional background spans several industries, including education, media arts, writing and editing, technology, recruiting and human resources, project management and marketing. She also has traveled and backpacked different parts of the globe for periods of time, including Europe and Australia. Also, as she is currently enrolled in the Higher Education M.S.Ed. program at Penn's Graduate School of Education, Anne Marie routinely studies and learns about new resources to help students make the most of their experiences both at Penn and beyond.

Heather Tranen, Associate Director / htranen@upenn.edu Heather joined Penn Career Services in 2015 as an Associate Director on the College of Arts & Sciences team.  During her undergraduate studies at Saint Joseph's University, she studied English and Italian (reading Dante's Inferno in both languages simultaneously for two seperate classes was a blast.) As a result, she empathizes with the challenges (and triumphs!) encountered as a liberal arts major.  Before finding her passion in career services, Heather worked in sales and marketing roles within both the media and the hospitality industries. She received her master's in Higher Education from New York University, and has experience in various areas of career services.  As recovering New Yorker, Heather looks forward to exploring the history, culture and food Philly has to offer (but mostly the food!).
Alyssa Perkins-Chatterton, Administrative Assistant / alperk@upenn.edu Alyssa_resize.jpgAlyssa graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont in the spring of 2013.  She began her career at her alma mater working in the Student Life Department.  It is here where she discovered her passion for working with students.  She recently moved to the Philadelphia area and joined the Career Services team at the begining of the 2014 fall semester.  Alyssa assists the College of Arts & Sciences counselors in scheduling appointments, preparing workshops and events and planning the many career fairs the team hosts during the school year.  She enjoys working with Penn students, answering their questions and ensuring their needs are met in a timely fashion.

She has a specialinterest in new, cutting edge industries and occupations. Prior to her positionin the Engineering area, Rosette advised all alumni serviced by the office, andadvised the College of Arts & Sciences, Education, Nursing and Social Workstudents/alumni. Rosette is active in the National Association of Colleges andEmployers (NACE), having served as a member for many years on committees andhas presented at several conferences. She was recognized at the 2012 NACEConference as a co-recipient (with a Penn Career Services colleague) of the 2012NACE Innovation Excellence Award in the category of Technology/Large College.Rosette has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from RutgersUniversity and post graduate studies in Higher Education Administration fromthe University of Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to Penn, Jamie's career included work at Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia) and Philadelphia University, where she specialized in internship advising and working with international students. Jamie believes that there is nothing more effective in a job search than a targeted, well written cover letter, and is rewarded by playing even a small part in the professional successes of the students and alumni she counsels. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Education in Psychological Services, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
Tiffany Franklin, Associate Director / ftiffany@upenn.eduTiffany joined the University of Pennsylvania Career Services team in 2014 and provides career and internship guidance to engineering students and alumni.  Prior to coming to Penn, Tiffany served as a recruiter on the technology team of an international staffing company and submitted candidates to top companies in Silicon Valley.  From 2006 to 2013, Tiffany worked at Vanderbilt University in the Center for Student and Professional Development.  In that role, she coached Arts, Media and Communications students, coordinated the Vandy-in-Hollywood summer internship program and traveled throughout the country meeting with engineering alumni  Tiffany launched her career in 1998 at Drexel University, where she advised students on all aspects of their co-op and job searches.  She is dedicated to helping students explore career options, craft resumes/cover letters that effectively highlight their experience and tell their professional story in a way that resonates with recruiters.  Tiffany earned her M.S.Ed. in Psychological Services from Penn's Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University.

John Tuton, Career Advisor / jftuton@upenn.eduJohn_resize.jpgJohn Tuton is a career counselor working with a variety of students and postdoctoral fellows.  Since 2001, Dr. Tuton has been an independent management consultant based in Philadelphia, PA., providing a comprehensive range of services in the areas of executive assessment, leadership development, performance management and career planning. He has designed and delivered a number of individual and team development programs and workshops, and has also consulted on organizational realignment and human resources planning.  Dr. Tuton began his consulting career in 1982 at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Study of Adult Development (CSAD).  When CSAD became Integra, Inc in 1984, he was promoted to Director of Assessment Programs.  Dr. Tuton left Intergra in 1986 to join Manchester Inc. as a vice president in their Management Development division, and after a four-year tenure there, became principal of his own consulting firm.  In 1994, he merged his practice with RHR International, where his services included management assessment, executive coaching, and succession planning.  For the past several years, he has acted as a career adviser for graduate students and postdocs at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lauren Kemp, Administrative Assistant / laruem@upenn.eduLauren joined Career Services in 2015 as a member of the Graduate Student and Postdoctoral team, providing administrative support to advisors and students.  Prior to working at the university, she served as a Staffing Coordinator in the Nursing and Clinical Recruitment department within Penn Medicine, overseeing the onboarding process for nurses, homecare and hospice workers, and Advanced Practitioners.  Lauren received her B.A. in English from Penn's College of Arts and Sciences.  In her off hours, she can be found toiling on her long-in-progress novel and running along the Schuylkill River Trail, training for her next road race.

In 2000, she was promoted to the position of Senior Associate Director working with Wharton undergraduate students. In addition to working with students, she also supervises the on-campus recruiting program at Penn. Prior to joining the Penn Career Services team she worked for two years in career services at the College of Wooster and for five years in career services at Dickinson College. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from Dickinson College, an MS in Counseling from Shippensburg University, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
David Ross, Associate Director / sdross@upenn.eduDavid.jpgDavid joined Penn Career Services in 2007 and is eager to leverage his professional experience while working with students and alumni as they explore, develop and embark on a plethora of career possibilities.  He has worked in a variety of career services roles throughout the years including employer relations at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business MBA Career Management Office and managing career fairs at Toppel Career Center at the University of Miami.  A Washington, DC native, David has lived in several different U.S. cities and particularly enjoys discussing the possibilities of relocating to new regions across the country.  He obtained a B.S.B.A. in Marketing, Management and Organization & Human Resources from Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Management from Penn's Graduate School of Education, an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University and a Human Resource Management Certificate from the Wharton Programs for Working Professionals, Aresty Institute of Executive Education, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Todd Rothman, Senior Associate Director / trothman@upenn.eduTodd_1_resize.jpgTodd Rothman has been with Penn's Graduate and Professional School Advising Unit since 2007, where he currently serves as Senior Associate Director and the primary Pre-Law Advisor.  He advises undergraduate students and alumni who are interested in applying to law school, graduate school in psychology, and medical and dental school.  Prior to Penn, Todd was the Assistant Director of Admissions at Columbia Law School where he read and evaluated applicant files as a member of the Admissions Committee.  He has enjoyed working on both sides of the admissions process, but he especially likes the opportunity in his current role to work longer-term with his advisees as they prepare for the next steps in their scholarly pursuits.  Before entering the law school realm, he held staff positions in the Office of the President at two institutions � Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Teachers College, Columbia University � and also worked in McKinsey & Company's New York Office (a notable departure... and his only job ever outside of higher education).  Todd is the current President of the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors (NAPLA) and, most recently, was Chair of the 2013 NAPLA Conference hosted by Penn Law School.  He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in 1997 and his M.A. in Psychology in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2004.

Carol Hagan, Associate Director / chagan@upenn.eduCarol.jpgCarol Hagan has advised students and alums pursing graduate and professional school since 2008.  She has taught classes in architectural history and worked as a writing tutor at the University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia University.  Carol has also worked in the arts and academic publishing and believes in the power of creating and telling one's story as part of the graduate school admissions process. She has a B.A. in English and Art History from Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mia Carpiniello, Associate Director / miacarp@upenn.eduMia.jpgMia Carpiniello joined Penn Career Services in 2013 as a member of the Graduate and Professional School Advising team. She specifically advises students and alumni applying to health professions school. Mia received her B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. As an attorney, she clerked for a federal judge and subsequently practiced law for several years at the City of Philadelphia Law Department and then at the Juvenile Law Center. Before coming to Penn, Mia started and ran her own professional organizing business, assisting individuals and businesses to organize their space, time and paperwork.
Ferrell Townsend, Administrative Assistant / ferrellt@upenn.eduFerrell.jpgFerrell has worked at Career Services since his sophomore year in 2008, starting off as a part-time student worker with the On Campus Recruiting Team, then a Credentials Officer, and now the administrative extraordinaire with the Graduate & Professional Advising team. In addition to providing professional assistance to the team, he oversees the day to day tasks of the Health Professions Advisory Board (HPAB) that prepares students for applying to medical and dental school. Before joining career services full time, he moved to Philadelphia from North Carolina to receive a B.A from the University of Pennsylvania in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics with a concentration in Distributive Justice.

Rosette has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Rutgers University and post graduate studies in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. Rosette represents Career Services on the Engineering School's Alumni Society Board.
Jamie Grant, Associate Director / jamie00@upenn.eduJamie_01_resize.jpgJamie has been involved in career counseling for over fifteen years, and joined Penn Career Services in 2009 as part of the Engineering team. Prior to coming to Penn, Jamie's career included work at Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia) and Philadelphia University, where she specialized in internship advising and working with international students. Jamie believes that there is nothing more effective in a job search than a targeted, well written cover letter, and is rewarded by playing even a small part in the professional successes of the students and alumni she counsels. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Education in Psychological Services, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
Tiffany Franklin, Associate Director / ftiffany@upenn.eduTiffany joined the University of Pennsylvania Career Services team in 2014 and provides career and internship guidance to engineering students and alumni.  Prior to coming to Penn, Tiffany served as a recruiter on the technology team of an international staffing company and submitted candidates to top companies in Silicon Valley.  From 2006 to 2013, Tiffany worked at Vanderbilt University in the Center for Student and Professional Development.  In that role, she coaced Arts, Media and Communications students, coordinated the Vandy-in-Hollywood summer internship program and traveled throughout the country meeting with engineering alumni  Tiffany launched her career in 1998 at Drexel University, where she advised students on all aspects of their co-op and job searches.  She is dedicated to helping students explore career options, craft resumes/cover letters that effectively highlight their experience and tell their professional story in a way that resonates with recruiters.  Tiffany earned her M.S.Ed. in Psychological Services from Penn's Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbuilt University.
Tamara Mason, Administrative Assistant / masont@upenn.eduTamara_02_resize.jpgTamara graduated from Temple University in the Spring of 2010 and began her career as a Teacher's Assistant. After having found a strong interest in academia and working with students, she then took a position here at the University of Pennsylvania where she provides administrative assistance to both the Engineering and Wharton teams, sets up appointments, handles the counselors work flow and manages the administrative details of projects including career fairs and surveys.

She retired as Senior Associate Director for graduate students and postdoc in Arts and Sciences, Annenberg, Design and Medicine, doctoral students in Engineering and Wharton in July 2013. She is co-author of the Academic Job Search Handbook (University of Pennsylvania Press) and "Managing Your Career" (formerly called "Career Talk"), an advice column on the online Chronicle of Higher Education, as well as several other publications. She is co-founder of the Graduate Career Consortium, an organization of career advisors from top research universities who work with doctoral students and postdocs, which serves as an important influence in promoting career services for Ph.D. candidates and postdocs nationally. Julie has an A.B. in Classics from Kenyon College, an M.S. in Library Science from Simmons College, an A.M. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania, and an honorary D.Hum.Litt. (Doctor of Humane Letters) from Kenyon College.
