Career Services and Ways to Stay Connected
Career Services at Penn offers an array of lifelong services to our undergraduate alumni. The list below provides an introduction to these services. We have also provided suggestions on how you can serve as a resource to current students by serving as a mentor, an extern host, posting jobs or internships with your organization, or attending a career fair.
Career Resources Available to Wharton Undergraduate Alumni
Career and Job Search Advising Appointments
Alumni are welcome to schedule a phone or in person appointment with a career counselor to discuss career transitions, job search tips, negotiating offers, resume and cover letter reviews, etc. For a small fee, alumni can also take the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and/or the Strong Interest Inventory to help explore various career options.
Graduate and Professional School Advising Appointments
Counselors are available to advise alumni on many aspects of applying to graduate and professional programs including applications, admissions requirements, researching programs, essays and financial aid. You may schedule an in-person or phone appointment.
On-Line Job Listings Through PennLink
Employers interested in hiring Penn students and alumni post positions on PennLink, our on-line job and internship database, on a daily basis. Accessing the job listings as an alum is free and easy. Register for an account by clicking here. We also maintain an alumni career listserv to which we occasionally post positions that employers have asked to have highlighted. Please email Barbara Hewitt to be added to the Wharton Undergraduate Alumni Career Listserv.
Career Fairs
All of the Career Fairs sponsored by Career Services are open to alumni. Note that the primary business career fair, Career Link, is held each September. We also maintain a list of career fairs that we learn of that are not sponsored by our office.
Career Library
We have thousands of resources available in our extensive career library which alumni in the Philadelphia region are welcome to utilize.
PACNet (Penn Alumni Career Network) and the Wharton Online Directory
PACNet is a database of Penn graduates who have volunteered to answer career-related questions for Penn students and alumni. Although it is not appropriate to ask PCN advisors for jobs, they can provide a wealth of information on career fields and employment outlooks.
Wharton alumni may also wish to access the Wharton Alumni Directory which directly connects you with the global Wharton alumni network. Perform a simple or advanced search using one or all of the search fields provided to find classmates, friends and colleagues in your region or industry.
Regional Wharton and Penn Clubs
Both the Wharton School and University of Pennsylvania have active alumni clubs around the world to help you connect with other alumni.
Maintain a credential file
Career Services had partnered with Interfolio, the premier web-based credential file management service since 1999, to help with maintenance and mailing of credentials letters for interested Penn students and alumni. You can find out more by clicking here.
On-line Resources
A variety of online resources can be found on the main Career Services alumni page, as well as the web page specifically maintained by Career Services for Wharton students and alumni.
Ways for Alumni to Stay Involved with Students
Serve as an Externship Host
An externship is a "shadowing" program which allows Wharton undergraduate students a chance to observe a “day in the life” of professionals in careers of interest to them. Externships are typically held in early January (when students are on semester break) and in mid/late May after classes have ended. Externship hosts have the flexibility to design an externship experience unique to their particular career field.
