Civic House Alumni Connecting with Civic House Programs

Leadership & Skill Building Workshops

Civic House is Penn's center for students involved in community service and advocacy work. We help students to identify and prepare for a range of community involvement activities. The events and workshops described below can help you learn about new opportunities and important social issues and skills related to community work. For more information, please stop by Civic House, and visit us on the web!

The Civic House Leadership and Skill Building Workshop Series is a collection of educational workshops, discussions, and reflections developed to encourage students to address the fundamental issues raised by community work and to teach skills that are essential to community work.  For some students, working in communities without a means to understand or act on complex social issues can build barriers and lead to frustration. To reach our potential as students and agents of change and to engage responsibly in communities, we must be thoughtful and purposeful in our relationships and in our work. All members of the Penn community who are interested in service or advocacy are strongly encouraged to participate.

Alumni are also encouraged to contribute to our workshops, in terms of informing content, providing additional resources and helping to facilitate.  To find our more on how to get involved, email civic@dolphin.upenn.edu

Public Interest Careers

Civic House helps to prepare students to pursue a career in the not-for-profit world, government, education, and other public interest fields. Through series of workshops and panels, our various internship programs, and our extensive job listings, we do our best to connect our students to careers in the public interest and make sure they are informed and prepared in the process.
