Thank you for visiting our Alumni page! We are excited to have the opportunity to keep you up-to-date about our activities, and to invite you to become involved with us and our students.
Recognizing that one's commitment to civic engagement does not end upon graduation, we are seeking ways to help those current students learn from the post-graduate involvements of our alumni and friends. As a new initiative this year, we hope to highlight some of the great work of our alum's and make it available here on our website and in our newsletters.
Please email us at civic@dolphin.upenn.edu if you are interested in being profiled in an upcoming newsletter.
Thank you again for your interest in Civic House. If you would like to communicate with us directly, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone at 215-898-4831, or by email at civic@dolphin.upenn.edu.
My name is Peter Krumbhaar and I am a recent college graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Over the past two years, I have dreamed of riding across the world on a bicycle to promote both sustainably and cycling. On March 21st I began a 4,000 mile bike journey across parts of Australia, New Zealand, and the continent of Europe. As of April 27th, I have completed 1250 miles across New Zealand! I have cycled up hills, mountains, along the Tasminian Sea, Pacific Ocean, and Firth of Thames. I have had the pleasure to ride through the capital city of Wellington and I have seen the sounds of the South Island by taking a ferry from the North to the South Island. I have survived the many infamous one way bridges and passed through the largest polynesian city in the world, Auckland. Most importantly, I have met many people in the country telling them of my ambitious plan and reason for such a feat. While I have many reasons why I am undertaking such a long journey, the main reason I am committed to this trip is for the Philadelphia organization Neighborhood Bike Works. Cycling has certainly changed my life, Neighborhood Bike Works changes the lives of thousands of children in the Philadelphia community. Through my efforts I hope to raise attention to this wonderful organization to not just my community, but to the world. Neighborhood Bike Works hosts a fundraising ride each year entitled the Ride of Dreams. Through my blog, petesrideofdreams.blogspot.com, I have connected through hundreds of people throughout the world.
