Penn Civic Scholars will be offered special advising services. Students will be assigned an academic advisor and be able to consult with the director of the program and the staff of Civic House as they plan coursework and service and research experiences. Penn Civic Scholars will also have immediate contact with the associated faculty of the program (as well as with community leaders) through the freshman and sophomore proseminar. Currently planned themes for the proseminars in the coming academic years are: Citizenship: Past, Present, Future (2007-2008); Poverty and Policy (2008-2009); Public Schooling: Its Past and Future (2009-2010). Finally, students will have selected faculty mentors to guide their capstone research projects.
