Dianna Funk
2010
|
Diana is a rising senior in Wharton, concentrating in Healthcare Management and Policy (and possibly Legal Studies too). Diana is also pre-med and used to be in the Engineering school, so she's got all the bases pretty much covered. On campus Diana spends a lot of days at the Daily Pennsylvanian, a lot of nights in Hunstman Hall, and loves to cook (at odd hours of the night), dance (sometimes in the rain), and explore Philadelphia (favorite places? Buffalo Exchange and Cuba Libre!). This summer, when not at Civic House or working on her application to the Peace Corps, Diana will be interning at Google and living in San Francisco, where she wants to improve her salsa dancing skills, hang off the back of a trolley, and find that house from Full House. Most importantly, Diana is SO EXCITED to meet all the corpies and looking foward to ending her college career the way she started it...with PennCORP! |

Victor Galli
2012
|
Born and raised in Texas, Victor attended Garland High School which is in a suburb of Dallas. While at GHS, he received his diploma for the International Baccalaureate Programme, which he says gave him the world view that he carries with him today in all of his endeavors. While at Penn, Victor has spent the majority of his time working on environmental and health projects with numerous organizations. With plans to major in Biochemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies, and Health and Societies, with minors in Nutrition and Urban Studies, Victor plans eventually to go into Public Health. Medicine and healthcare have always been important aspects in his life; however, he is now shifting his focus towards more preventative and alternative medicine. |

Alix is always looking for opportunities to practice American Sign Language, parks to read in, interesting podcasts to listen to, and delicious ice cream to enjoy! This summer, she will be interning with ProjectHEALTH in Boston. |

Anne-Garland Berry
2010
|
Anne-Garland is a rising senior who hails from Virginia, majoring in NELC with an Arabic concentration and Political Science; she is a Spanish minor (and is finishing a Spanish final paper at press time). She is 6'2" and really enjoys being so tall that no one even notices when she wears heels (though ducking all of the time can be annoying). Community service has been the best part of her college experience, and she has been a member of the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project in the past; she is currently involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, ASB and is on the Executive Boards of Penn Music Mentoring Program and Civic House Associates Coalition. She also sings in an a cappella group. She can't wait to hang out with everyone this fall! |
Nick Eng
2010
|
Nick is a rising senior who is majoring in Math and Econ. How he chose his majors he doesn't exactly know, but he's come to enjoy them... a lot. In his spare time he likes to spread computer literacy to the underprivileged by being a part of a club called CommuniTech, create service opportunities for Penn students with Penn Weekend Service, and is part of the student board of Civic House. During the summer he'll be working for JP Morgan Chase and doing research in homelessness and housing policy. Oh yeah, and he really likes George Foreman Grills. |
Laura Ferro
2010
|
A junior in the College who enjoys spontaneous dance parties and sticking her tongue out at strangers, Laura is double majoring in English and Gender, Culture and Society with a concentration in Women's Studies. When not flailing with her roommates, eating Marathon frozen yogurt (peanut butter and chocolate twist!), or doing turbo kick at the gym, Laura devotes her time to Penn Weekend Service, Model Congress, the Women's Center Advisory Board, giving tours of campus for Kite and Key, and Phi Sigma Sigma. During past summers, she worked on the National History Day program as an intern for the New York State Historical Association in Cooperstown, NY (baseball hall of fame anyone?), studied in Florence, and interned for her Congresswoman in DC. She's so excited for PennCORP this year! |

Christina Grayson
2010
|
Hailing from Cresskill, NJ (so excited for the new "Real Housewives" series!), Christina is a College senior majoring in Urban Studies with a minor in Urban Real Estate and Development. When she's not pondering the world's social and economic problems, Christina works with the cutest, brightest, and balling-est kids in West Philadelphia as a Site Coordinator for the Community School Student Partnerships. She is also involved with the theatre group the African American Arts Alliance and sits on the board for Penn's "Vagina Monologues"/V-Day campaign to stop violence against women. Christina is so excited to contribute to the best pre-orientation program (and pretend she's still a freshman!) by returning to PennCORP, as it truly made a difference in her Penn career. |

Greg Klimowicz
2012
|
Greg is a rising sophomore from NE Philly. He hasn't declared a major yet, but is almost certain that it will be International Relations with a concentration in Economic Development. A minor in European Studies or Urban Studies would be really neat too. He planned on being premed, but fell in love with his history classes. He enjoys learning languages, and will be starting Russian this fall (pretty excited for that!). He is pretty much addicted to sports and has played soccer and hockey almost his whole life. Here at Penn, Greg plays intramural football and soccer (we never won a game...but there’s always next year right?). This summer, he's going to continue learning how to fly single-engine planes, and will hopefully learn to land by himself by the end of the summer. His best experiences have been working with National Student Partnership (changing its name to “Lift”) and Habitat for Humanity. He is happy to be staying on campus and working with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships this summer and is very excited to meet the new Corpies. |

Katie McCabe
2010
|
Katie is a rising sophomore in the College with absolutely no idea what she’s majoring in. She spent her freshman year as a Local Director at National Student Partnerships where she connected West Philadelphians to any resources they might need. She also serves as the Urban Poverty lisasion on CHAC, and plays a role in advising and connecting community service organizations related to Urban Poverty on Penn's campus. She also planned fun events for her dorm as Vice President of Hill House Council, the council of THE best dorm on campus :) This summer, she’s interning with an anti-child-trafficking organization in Allahabad, India with a friend from Vanderbilt. In her free time, some of her interests include pretending she can dance in hip-hop class, pretending she's Rocky on her runs to the Art Museum, or throwing a frisbee around on Hill field. She hails from Philly, and enjoys correcting all her friends on the pronunciation of her favorite food, wooder ice. Oh, and she can't WAIT to meet all the new Corpies!! |

Alison Marcus
2011
|
Alison is a rising junior in the College from the beautiful city of Buffalo, New York. She's an Urban Studies major and French minor. At Penn, she spends 3 (sometimes more) afternoons a week at Comegys Elementary School, where she is a tutor and instructor in the after-school program run by the student organization Community School Student Partnerships. This summer she'll be in Philadelphia working at Comegys with Philadelphia Freedom Schools. This is her second year as a volunteer after being a Corpie in 2007. Alison is so glad to return to PennCORP again, since she made amazing friends and got involved with CSSP, and she wants to make sure that all of this year's Corpies have an equally great experience with it. |

Anushka Nadarajah
2011
|
Anushka Nadarajah is a rising junior in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is an econ major and is considering an urban studies minor. She participated in PennCORP in 2007, and couldn’t get enough of it after that so she volunteered in 2008 and is back again as a volunteer this year. Anushka was recently elected as the secretary of the Civic House Associates Coalition(CHAC) Executive Board. As a member of CHAC Exec, she helps to oversee over fifty student run community service groups at Penn. Anushka tutors at Comegys Elementary School in West Philadelphia with the tutoring organization CSSP(Community Schools Student Partnerships). She also works for the Urban Nutrition Initiative(UNI) running fruit stands and nutrition classes in West Philadelphia elementary schools.Apart from community service, Anushka enjoys being a tour guide and being in her sorority. Recently, Anushka got into Atma, Penn’s South Asian female a cappella group. She is so excited to spend her third year in PennCORP and to meet all of the new incoming corpies!

Mark Pan
2011
|
Mark is a 5' 8" Gemini from San Jose, CA who is seeking friendship and is interested in Urban Studies and Education. Some of his stunning PennCORPie behaviors include mandating enthusiasm, forcing friendships, and requiring seat belt buckling. Mark enjoys biking around exploring Philly, engaging in spontaneous dance parties, offering wisdom as a wise upperclassman ("just major in Urban Studies!"), extensive late-night discussions with hallmates ranging from education inequalities to High School Musical 3, and writing in the third person. He is incredibly excited for PennCORP 2009!

Michelle Shrrott
2012
|
Michelle Sherrott is a rising sophmore in Bioengineering from Vancouver, Canada. At Penn, she spends a lot of her time working with Engineers Without Borders, and this summer will be traveling with EWB to Cameroon to build a gravity-fed water system for a village of about 400 people. The rest of her summer will be devoted to working in a lab, coding protein sequences related to neuro-degenerative diseases. She is also involved with PennforUNICEF during the school year, and coordinates service opportunities for her engineering fraternity (she is a 'brother' in the co-ed engineering fraternity on campus). Some of her closest friends today are people she met when she was a Corpie, and she can't wait to meet the incoming participants to show them how awesome Philadelphia is and how many ways there are to get involved with service here! |

Sonja Tonnesen
2010
|
Sonja is a rising senior from Wisconsin majoring in Urban Studies with minors in African Studies and Spanish. At Penn, Sonja is involved with Urban Nutrition Initiative, West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, Art Club, and work-study at the Center for Community Partnerships (CCP). She will be spending her summer working in Philly. Sonja cannot wait for her very last PennCORP experience as a volunteer this upcoming year--it will be bitter sweet! Corpies '09! |
