Alternate Spring Break Alternate Spring Break is a student run University of Pennsylvania organization that sponsors community service trips to various locations across the country. Participants spend their spring breaks performing worthwhile community service work, ranging from building homes for low-income families to rehabilitating the environment along the Appalachian Trail.   One-Time Service
Amnesty International Amnesty International is a worldwide organization working on behalf of human rights. Amnesty International works for the release of prisoner's of conscience, the fair and prompt trials of political prisoners and to end torture, executions and the death penalty.   Advocacy/Enviro

Asian Pacific Student Coalition The Asian Pacific Student Coalition represents the interests and causes of the Asian Pacific American community to the University administration. CityStep CityStep works with middle-school children to promote self-esteem, creativity, teamwork and self-confidence through dance. CitySteppers travel weekly to area schools to teach routines and practice. Each semester culminates in a performance for classmates, friends and family members.   Mentoring/Tutoring

Fox Leadership- Penn Leads the Vote An advocacy organization that informs students of issues that affect them and empowers them to become educated citizens. Work includes voter registration drives, voter education efforts and get out the vote events.

Habitat for Humanity Works with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia to build and restore homes. Home buyers provide sweat equity hours and work with volunteers to complete homes.   Urban Poverty
Kite & Key The members of the Kite & Key Society act as campus tour guides, play host to prospective students, work as tutors, volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, and assist with special projects on campus such as Alumni weekend. (SAC funded)   One-time Service
Muslim Student Association The Penn MSA has been closely involved with the West Philadelphia Muslim Community. Our main focus in to bridge the gap between Muslim students at Penn and the Muslims of our neighborhood. National Student Partnerships National Student Partnerships links people in need with resources and opportunities available to them. Penn Chess Tutoring Club The Penn Chess Tutoring Club in a collaboration with Project H.O.M.E. teaches chess and mentors children ages 10-17 on Friday and Saturday afternoons. No previous experience with chess necessary, anyone interested will be taught what they need to know.   Mentoring/Tutoring
Penn Environmental Group The Penn Enviromental Group works to raise awareness of global enviromental issues to the Penn community. Their projects include education, recycling, energy conservation and the CUPPS program.   Advocacy/Enviro

Penn Music Mentoring Program We are a group of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Pennsylvania dedicated to enriching local K-12 students' lives through music education. We've partnered with several campus and community organizations to bring services like free private music lessons, field trips, and performance opportunities to students in the West Philadelphia area.   Arts Based
Penn West Philadelphia Basketball League The Penn West Philly Basketball League, composed of area college students and community members has been formed to create a basketball league for the children of the West Philly community. We seek to create a safe environment for children to come learn and play basketball in a structured manner. The children aged 10-13 will be prepared for high school, not only in terms of basketball development, but also in terms of school life and challenges. We will do this by providing the children with mentors who develop a personal relationship with each child through basketball instruction. By successfully administering this program we also serve to bridge the gap between the West Philly community and the University of Pennsylvania. We encourage the ever increasing involvement with existing community organizations and individuals all working together to help the children of our community.   Tutoring/Mentoring
PennPals PennPals pairs undergrads with elementary school students from Drew School to serve as role models.   Mentoring/Tutoring
Pennvelopes Pennvelopes is a pen pal program in which Penn students write letters to a student in a local school with the goal of improving the reading and writing skills of the elementary school students. Penn students abroad also expose their pen pals to new cultures, geography and world issues by mailing letters from abroad.   Mentoring/Tutoring

SHOOP The Student Hospice organization of Penn helps train Penn students to become hospice volunteers to aid terminally ill patients and their families.   Public Health
Stimulus Children's Theater A student theater group that both performs and educates its audience. The children-oriented theater group performs at elementary schools, community centers, day-care centers and elderly care facilities to not only entertain but to teach the audience about theater.   Arts Based

West Philadelphia Tutoring Project The WPTP is a group of over 350 Penn students who are paired with West Philadelphia students in one- on-one tutoring relationships. The WPTP seeks to build academic success as well as self confidence for area students. Trainings for new tutors are held at the begining of each semester for those interested.   Tutoring/Mentoring
