Speak OUT!
Social Justice Discussion Group
This discussion group will offer a forum for members of the Penn community to discuss and explore contemporary issues related to social justice. The design of this program is very casual. All sessions will be discussion based with facilitation by either professors, staff members, or students. We plan to engage students by collaborating with other groups and centers on campus who are interested in addressing similar issues. We invite all individuals who truly want to engage and participate in a safe, open environment.
Throughout this series we intend to explore the ways in which social institutions address the violation of civil rights, how responsibility either falls upon, or is delegated to these institutions, how effective these reactions are, and the role that students play in seeing that such issues are addressed.
We request all participants in the discussion group adhere to our Code of Participation that encourages active discussion and creates a safe place for sharing ideas.
