General Guidelines for new WPTP Tutors

To become a tutor with the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, interested students must attend a WPTP Information Session. WPTP Information Sessions are held at the beginning of each semester and provide students with details regarding the program. At the end of the Information Session, students will have the opportunity to apply for the program and receive an Enrollment Form through e-mail so they can be placed in a convenient time slot.

After new tutors are placed, there is mandatory New Tutor Orientation that will enhance students' understanding of the West Philadelphia community as well as review basic tutoring strategies. Additionally, new tutors will fill out a Background Check which will enable them to work in West Philadelphia schools. Students cannot begin tutoring unless they fill out the necessary documentation. Students who fail to attend New Tutor Orientation will not be able to participate in WPTP.
