About GIC
The Albert M. Greenfield Intercultural Center was established in 1984 and welcomes all students interested in fostering intercultural understanding on campus. As a site of learning through cross cultural activism, reflection, and dialogue the GIC promotes co-curricular educational and cultural programs. The Center provides support to the United Minorities Council (UMC) and to its many constituent groups. It is also home to popular intercultural programs, such as: Programs for Awareness and Cultural Education (PACE) - a diversity education program and Alliance & Understanding (AU) - an exploration into the historic partnership between Blacks and Jews during the Civil Rights era, as well as, organizations such as the Race Dialogue Project and Six Directions, the latter being an organization for students interested in Native American issues.
Additionally, the GIC in collaboration with College Houses and Academic Services, The Center for Community Partnerships and Civic House is launching a residential program called the Franklin Community that will allow students to explore democracy, civic engagement and intercultural understanding. Center staff also design and implement workshops for student organizations and administrative offices on campus.
If you are interested in planning an event, workshop, starting a student organization, or getting involved in building a culturally aware and integrated campus do not hesitate to contact us.
