The Advisory Board serves a consultative function. The Director is the liaison between the Board and the Center and serves as an ex-officio member of the same. The co-chairs plan and convenes the Board's meetings. The Advisory Board will assist La Casa with its mission; the Board's bylaws were approved on May 14, 2003 and are in the process are being updated. For more information about the Advisory Board, you may contact the Membership Committee Chair, below. La Casa Latina was successful in creating its first official advisory board; in establishing by-laws and sub-committee that will address the issues of memberships, funding, retention, activities and programs and alumni outreach, the advisory board was designed to be a vehicle by which Penn and community leaders may provide guidance on the Center’s operations and strategic decisions. The advisory board includes alumni, community leaders, faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students from the Latino Coalition. The advisory board addressed issues, such as recruitment, retention, funding, that meet the educational, cultural and social needs of Latino/Hispanic students. La Casa Latina has worked very closely throughout the year with its executive board to create a solid foundation for the Center’s vision, goals, and objectives.
