La Casa Latina: The University of Pennsylvania Center for Hispanic Excellence is a Center devoted to developing greater awareness of Latino issues, culture and identity on Penn’s campus. La Casa Latina provides a supportive environment where students are welcome to discuss and understand important issues that affect them as Latinos. The Center supports Latino Students through resources and services that foster the integration of their academic, social, cultural, and community service activities to enrich their Penn experience. La Casa Latina strives to be a Center where all Latinos and non-Latinos can participate and learn from each other in order to enrich the intercultural experience of the Penn Community. La Casa Latina Goals: 1. La Casa Latina collaborates with the Latino Coalition to create programs that represent the rich diversity of the Latino Community and reflect the artistic, academic, cultural, social and political aspects of all Latinos at Penn. 2. La Casa Latina establishes new resources, programs and services to attract new Latino members of the community to La Casa Latina. 4. La Casa Latina collaborates with University departments to provide resources, services, and programs toward the goal of retaining Latino students. 5. La Casa Latina continues to develop revenue sources for the support of its new programming, resources, services and facilities. 6. La Casa Latina establishes new resources, programs and services to recruit and better serve first-year Latino students in their transition to college and integration at Penn. 7. La Casa Latina will increase the community's awareness and utilisation of its services through outreach programs. |
