Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists We are a community of psychiatrists that educates and advocates on LGBT mental health issues. Our goals are to: foster a fuller understanding of LGBT mental health issues; research and advocate for the best mental health care for the LGBT community; develop resources to promote LGBT mental health; create a welcoming, safe, nurturing and accepting environment for members; and provide valuable and accessible services to our members. Black Gay Men's Leadership Council The mission of the BGMLC is to use advocacy, education and community collaborations to empower Philadelphia's diverse communities of black gay men by focusing on their social and political advancement and health and wellness needs, while developing local, regional and national leaders. Gay and Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia (GALLOP) GALLOP was formed in 1986 as the Philadelphia Attorneys for Human Rights (PAHR), an organization of gay and lesbian legal professionals serving the Philadelphia metropolitan area. GALLOP's purpose is to advocate for and promote the civil and human rights of gay men and lesbians; to improve access to gay and lesbian attorneys and to improve and enhance business opportunities, advancement and employment of gay and lesbian attorneys. Greater Philadelphia Professional Network (GPPN) GPPN members reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and represent a diverse array of industries and professional experiences. Our mission is to provide a social, career and business development channel for the gay and lesbian professional community. For 10 years, GPPN has sponsored regular networking events, speakers, workshops, summertime fun and a newsletter serving the region's gay professional community. Each month, our networking events attract between 40 and 100 professionals to some of the region's hottest restaurants. Independence Business Alliance (IBA) The Independence Business Alliance (IBA) is the new Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Philadelphia region. The IBA is a membership-based business advocacy organization, dedicated to making the Philadelphia region an influential and diverse LGBT business community with an impact on economic development, equal rights and policy issues. Kink-Aware Professionals Kink Aware Professionals (KAP) is a privately funded, non-profit service dedicated to providing the community with referrals to psychotherapeutic, medical, and legal professionals who are knowledgeable about and sensitive to diverse expressions of sexuality. Each professional listed has volunteered to be available for referral to people involved in "kinky" sexuality (leather, SM, fetish, etc.) either by contacting KAP directly or through another kink-friendly publication or organization. National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association - Philadelphia Chapter The NLGJA is an organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students who work within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. NLGJA opposes all forms of workplace bias and provides professional development to its members. The issues of same-sex marriage, gay families, parenting and adoption, gays in the military, sex education in the schools, civil liberties, gay-related ballot initiatives, gay bashing and anti-gay violence are commanding media attention with regularity. NLGJA has had a positive effect on responsible gay coverage, but we still have work to do. Out and Equal Out & Equal Greater Philadelphia meets local needs to educate and empower organizations, human resources professionals, Employee Resource Groups, and individual employees through programs and services that result in workplace equity regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, or characteristics. In addition to offering support for Fortune 500 companies that are evaluated by the HRC Corporate Equality Index, the Greater Philadelphia region is home to a number of large, successful corporations and businesses that are too small to be evaluated by HRC. In the Greater Philadelphia region, if you do not work for a Fortune 500 company or perhaps a large municipal government, then you may find yourself without any protection or institutional voice on your behalf. Out & Equal Greater Philadelphia will collaborate with corporations and businesses of all sizes to ensure that all employees in the Greater Philadelphia region have a local champion for workplace equity. |
