Anna Crusis Women's Choir The Anna Crusis Women's Choir, founded in 1975, is the country's oldest feminist choir and has been honored for its community service in the Philadelphia area. The Choir acts as both an agent of social change and a premier performing arts group by empowering its audiences on important issues of the day affecting women, youth and disadvantaged populations. Artemis Motorcycle Club, Inc. We are women from all walks of life, ranging from new riders to riders with 30+ years in the saddle. Our current riding and passenger membership lives in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware. Our mission is to promote motorcycling as a sport among women, emphasizing safety, solidarity, support and friendship. Bridge Club The Bridge Club for men and women meets at the William Way Community Center on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month from 2 pm to 5 pm. There is no charge, but because the group can only play in groups of four, please call Ellis Ginsberg in advance for a reservation at 215-732-2220. Sorry, but the club is not for beginners. Bucks County Alternative Bowling League We are the newest gay league in the area. Gay, bi and straight players. This is our first season together, and we would like everyone to know about it, and get the opportunity to bowl with us. Our first year together is very casual, no prize funds, and lots of social events and opportunities. We have weekly 50/50s with two and a half hours of bowling. Practice begins at 6:20 on Monday nights and games start at 6:30. City of Brotherly Love Softball League Join over 600 gay and lesbian softball players and their friends. Games are played in nearby Fairmount Park on Sundays starting in April. All it takes is a glove, a small registration fee, and the desire to share some fun in the sun this spring and summer. Our league accommodates all levels of talent - from beginner to competitive with seperate but interacting men's and womens divisions. Fairmount Park Women's Softball League The Fairmount Park Women's Softball League has been part of the women's sports community in Philadelphia for 30 years. The league is organized and operated by volunteers and features 2 divisions - Competitive Slow Pitch and Recreational Slow Pitch. The FPWSL season begins at the end of April and ends with a championship playoff in mid-July. League teams also enjoy the opportunity to participate in many social events such as the Belmont Ball, Bingo Night, a golf tournament, bowling night, and more. FINS Aquatics Club The Fins Aquatics Club is Philadelphia's gay and lesbian masters swim team. We welcome swimmers of all ages, skill levels, genders and orientations. The team provides challenging, well-organized, coached work-outs. Some members focus on local, regional, national or international swimming competitions and/or triathlons. Others swim to keep fit. When we aren't working out, we often hang out together just for fun, whether for meals after practice, bike rides, participating at Philadelphia's various gay festivals or for other special events. Frontrunners In 1983 a small group of gay runners in Philadelphia decided to organize and promote running for the gay and lesbian community. Following in the footsteps of similar clubs in New York and San Francisco, Frontrunners Philadelphia was born. During the past 20 years, Frontrunners Philadelphia has matured into the premier running and walking club for gays, lesbians and their friends throughout the Delaware Valley. Humboldt Society The Humboldt Society is the oldest gay and lesbian natural history society in the US. It was founded in 1982 in honor of gay scientist, adventurer, and natural history philosopher Alexander von Humboldt. The society is celebrating 25 years of providing lectures, films, field trips, and social festivities to Philadelphia area gays and lesbians. Independence Squares Independence Squares is Philadelphia’s LGBT square dance club. The club teaches classes in the Mainstream, Plus, Advanced and Challenge 2 programs of modern Western square dancing. Classes are open to all, and membership is contingent on completing the Mainstream program and paying dues. Dances are open to all dancers who have proficiency up to the level being danced. Current membership is approximately a 60/40 male/female ratio. Liberty Bears of Philadelphia The Liberty Bears of Philadelphia is a not-for-profit organization that has been established to promote acceptance and camaraderie of Bears, Cubs, Ursalas and their admirers by providing the opportunity to gather and socialize in safe and hospitable surroundings and engage in appropriate activities and events that increase awareness of our lifestyles, potential and contributions to the LGBT community. Liberty Gay Rodeo Association The LGRA provides regular educational sessions that teach the community about all aspects of GLBT rodeo competition, animal welfare and sportsmanship. They also put on an annual LGRA-sanctioned rodeo. OutRiders* OutRiders Philadelphia is a group of LGBT and LGBT-friendly cycling enthusiasts. We have both Road and Mountain Biking groups. Volunteers select and lead rides. We need and encourage members familiar with parks and road routes to share and lead rides at those locations. We have riders of all abilities. Philadelphia Area Naturist Guys (PANG) Philadelphia Area Naturist Guys, "PANG", is an all-male naturist social club open only to men 21 years of age and older. We welcome all men of all sizes, shapes, ages, occupations, ethnicities, etc.! We have house parties that are open only to members and their guests. We sponsor events that are open to the public, such as trips to the (clothing optional) nude beach and monthly socials. Philadelphia Falcons Soccer Club The Falcons Soccer Club brings together adult players of all skill levels and orientations for informal weekly pick-up games, organized league and tournament play and social events with the goal of providing an environment where friendships, fitness, fair play and fun flourish. The club is co-ed, primarily gay and lesbian and is a 501c 3 nonprofit group. The falcons have promoted good sportsmanship and a positive social outlet since their founding in 1989. Philadelphia Gay Bowling League We are the areas longest running gay/lesbian bowling league. Anyone is welcome to bowl in our league. Teams consist of men and women in any combination. However, 3 bowlers on each team must be gay/lesbian. We meet every Wednesday night at 8:30pm from September through April (excluding Holiday weeks. See site calender for specific inquiries). Philadelphia Gryphons Rugby Football Club The Philadelphia Gryphons Rugby Football Club has established itself as the first gay-friendly men's rugby club in the Philadelphia area. We are always loooking for new players, fans, coaches, social members, and everything in between. All ages and sexual orientations (even straight ones) are welcome! Don't worry if you have never played rugby before! Most guys on the North American gay teams have never even seen a rugby ball before they stepped out onto the pitch. Short and tall, skinny and not-so-skinny, we've got a place for you on our team! Philadelphia Liberty Tennis Association We are an affiliate of the national Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance and Team Philadelphia. PLTA’s mission is to promote tennis among the GLBT community and its supporters in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. We also promote camaraderie and community spirit through social functions and events Philadelphia Voices of Pride Philadelphia's first mixed voice LGBT chorus. The Philadelphia Voices of Pride is a self affirming Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) vocal ensemble devoted to enhancing the musical, educational and cultural life in the Philadelphia area. We consider ourselves as ambassadors, promoting a positive image of the LGBT community by donating our time, talents and financial resources to benefit LGBT, HIV and Women’s organizations. Philadelphia Women's Rugby Football Club, Inc. Philadelphia Women's Rugby Football Club (PWRFC) was established in 1976, making it the oldest women's rugby club in the Philadelphia area. The goal of PWRFC is to continue to improve and grow as a competitive team and also ensure the development of the sport of rugby in the Philadelphia region. We are always looking for new players and would love for you to join us! Philadelphians MC Founded in 1974, Philadelphians MC is a fraternal leather organization built on the traditional motorcycle club model. Composed primarily of gay men, but open to any who feel a kinship with the leather community, the Philadelphians MC works to cultivate a feeling of family and brotherhood within its membership through socials, fundraising, personal growth and community involvement both in the Philadelphia area as well as in other cities to which we travel and visit brother clubs. PhilaVentures An outdoor club of gay men and lesbians in the Philadelphia area. Join us for biking, hiking, camping, skiing, tubing and other seasonal activities. Participation is open to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or place of residence. Planning meetings held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm, at the William Way Community Center. Queer Writers Collective Fourth Saturday of the Month @ 4 pm. For writers of all skill levels and styles. Join this free group for a monthly workshop and discussion to develop your unique queer voice via the written word. Meetings are free and take place at the William Way Community Center. Spartans Wrestling Club Spartan Wrestling Club of Philadelphia is an adult, gay recreational wrestling club dedicated to the enjoyment of freestyle wrestling. The club was founded in 1991. We welcome participants with little or no wrestling experience as well as trained freestylers and folks-style/collegiate wrestlers. Team Philadelphia Team Philadelphia is the umbrella group under which the various gay and lesbian sports teams and individual athletes in the Delaware Valley come together to provide a healthy outlet for all members of our community. Throughout the year, Team Philadelphia sponsors many events in order to raise funds to organize and support these athletes as the Delaware Valley 's official delegation to the quadrennial Gay Games. |
