LGBTC Task Force

Academic Task Force

The Academic Task Force is a group of students, faculty and staff who are interested in the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and content in university courses. The task force pursues this goal by encouraging education of faculty and TAs about LGBT issues, offering advice on inclusion and use of LGBT content and publishing a list of classes with such content. It also spearheads the effort to bring academic LGBT speakers to campus throughout the year. The task force is open to members of the Penn community and meets regularly during the academic year.

Health Task Force

The Health Task Force is a group of students, faculty and staff who are interested in informing the University of Pennsylvania community about LGBT health concerns and in advocating for health services on behalf of the LGBT population. Current issues facing the task force are addressing the need for more frequent anonymous/confidential HIV testing on campus, hiring more self-identified LGBT-friendly doctors at Student Health, and information on health resources outside of Penn. Click here for the LGBT Health Resources info page. The task force is open to members of the Penn community and meets regularly during the academic year.

Transgender Task Force

The Transgender Task Force seeks to raise the awareness of the broader Penn community about transgender issues and ensure that the University’s non-discrimination policy, which protects people based on gender identity, is enforced. Current issues facing the task force are addressing the need for single use restroom facilities across campus, on-campus housing concerns, admission and benefit forms, and so on. These problems are under study and we hope to initiate the changes necessary to comply fully with the non-discrimination policy. The task force also works with campus agencies to ensure the safe and equal treatment of transgender students, staff, and faculty.
