Umoja groups created Umoja Week using the seven principles of Kwanzaa as it's guide. The goal of the week is to honor the African culture in America on the University of Pennsylvania's campus. These principles, celebrated during the week, focus on unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. It is an opportunity to learn about traditions from groups within the African Diaspora by organizing events that are enlightening, entertaining, and educational.
