Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps

For Prospective Students

The NROTC Program was established to educate and train qualified young men and women for service as unrestricted line officers in the Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve. Selected applicants for the NROTC Scholarship Program are awarded scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process, and receive tuition, books, fees, and other financial aid benefits worth as much as $115,000. Upon graduation, midshipmen are commissioned as officers in the unrestricted line of Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve.

Students selected for the NROTC Scholarship Program must gain admission to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, or Temple University. The admission process is completely independent of the NROTC selection process.

Freshman and Sophomore students already at Penn, Drexel, or Temple should contact the Midshipman Recruiting Officer directly at (215) 898-7436. Students with a cumulative GPA above 3.0 in math, chemistry, physics, computer science and engineering might immediately be available for scholarships. Additionally, students must successfully complete DODMERB physical and be found medically qualified or receive a waiver for the NROTC program. Penn and Temple students must make their own arrangements for room and board. Starting Fall 2007, Drexel University offers aid of 100% room (dorm) and 25% board (meal plan) for all NROTC scholarship students!

NURSING STUDENTS: NROTC now offers scholarships to all 3 schools.  You can participate in NROTC from the UPenn, Drexel, or Temple Nursing Programs!
