College
House Health Liaison Project 2004-2005
Purpose:
To
provide expanded health care promotions and health resource access
for Penn undergraduate residents in the University’s College
Houses through a network of Health Liaisons supported by a convening,
interdisciplinary team.
Program
Staffing Overview:
Selected staff for the project includes resident advisers and
graduate associates from the 11 college houses along with administration
from the Office of Health Education and College Houses. Staff
members serve as knowledgeable resources about Penn’s health
and wellness centers and services and highlight access points
of entry of health-related services and peer health resources.
Focus:
The
thematic focus of the Health Liaison Pilot Project is on the following
themes identified through surveys conducted by the Office of Health
Education specific to the University of Pennsylvania population
and student/staff focus groups as the areas of most concern to
the undergraduate population: nutrition, infectious disease, stress,
alcohol abuse, and drug abuse.
Project
Objectives:

To provide informational sessions regarding pertinent health issues
to the college house population and the resident GA/RA staff.
- To
serve as local sources of information to college house residents
re: available health resources offered at Penn
-
To implement thematic programs to address additional student-evidenced
needs as they arise.

To provide support to other staff in their health-related program
development.
