WHARTON SCHOOL FACULTY PRESENTATIONS 2:00 - 3:45 pm
“Negotiating Effectively at Work and at Home: Why Personality Matters” 2-2:45pm
Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Ambani Auditorium (Room G06)
G. Richard Shell, Thomas Gerrity Professor; Professor of Legal Studies and Business Ethics and Management
Courses and books on negotiation generally assume that anyone, regardless of personality, can follow the advice they give. Win-win books assume that people can be taught to be cooperative and swim-with-the-sharks books assume that people can be taught to be aggressive. But is this realistic? Professor Shell will discuss how he teaches negotiation from an assumption people often bring personal styles to the table that cannot – and should not – be changed.

Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Ambani Auditorium (Room G06)
Shane Jensen, Assistant Professor of Statistics
The use of statistical modeling in baseball has received substantial attention recently in both the media and academic community. Professor Jensen focuses on a relatively under-explored topic: the use of statistical models for the analysis of fielding based on high- resolution data for location of batted balls. Professor Jensen uses spatial probability models to evaluate the performance of individual fielders while sharing information between fielders at each position. He will present results across four seasons of MLB data along with discussion of the correspondence with anecdotal beliefs of fielding ability.

COLLEGE HOUSE and SANSOM PLACE ACCESS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS: Passes Available at Campus Express

In order to simplify access to your student's College House or Sansom Place, Housing and Conference Services offers special Family Weekend passes. These are available online through Campus Express. Your student can easily log into Campus Express at http://campusexpress.upenn.edu/, choose the link to "My Housing," and then the link to "Family Weekend Passes."

Your student may create as many as needed through the website. The passes will also be available from the Information Center of their college house or on-campus residence in the week prior to and on the weekend of Family Weekend. The passes are good from 9:00 am Friday until 5:00 pm Sunday.

These access passes allow relatives to enter the College Houses without having to sign in at every visit. The resident host, however, must still accompany their guests upon entering the residence.  Please encourage your student to get your passes via Campus Express—this will eliminate waiting in lines at the Information Center during Family Weekend.
