PENNacle is a pre-orientation program being offered to sixty members of the Class of 2013 at the University of Pennsylvania sponsored by The Undergraduate Assembly, and the Office of the Provost, with additional support from the Trustees Council of Penn Women.
PENNacle is a three-day retreat which includes active games, structured experiences and lots of discussion, both formal and informal. The program will be facilitated by upperclass Penn students who have participated in the all-campus leadership retreat and hold key positions in a variety of campus organizations. Topics to be covered include group dynamics, leadership style, team-building, campus resources and Penn traditions.
The program begins on campus on Monday night, August 31, 2009. The group will leave campus on Tuesday morning for Diamond Ridge Conference Center, and will return to campus in order to prepare for the New Student Orientation activities which begin on Thursday, September 3, 2009.
Each year, we receive more applications for the program than there are spaces available. Participants will be selected based upon a careful review of the applications submitted by the deadline, June 30th, 2009. Each application is reviewed and rated by the staff and student leaders of the program and a consensus is reached. After selections are made, every applicant will be notified of their status by July 9th, 2009. Those invited to participate will need to promptly complete registration forms and submit payment. Students may apply to other pre-orientation programs as well and then decide which program to attend based upon their selection status.
Each participant is required to pay $275.00. This fee covers transportation, meals, lodging at Diamond Ridge, group initiatives, and a T-shirt. A partial scholarship is available to eligible students who qualify for financial aid through Penn.
