Penn also offers academic programs and performance opportunities in Theatre Arts, Music, and Cinema Studies.
The Theatre Arts Program offers a major and minor in the College of Arts and Sciences, integrating theory and practice. They produce a season of six to eight faculty and student-directed productions, primarily serving as senior projects in acting, directing and playwriting, with auditions open to all majors and new students, and when available, the rest of the University community.

The University’s Department of Music presents a full concert season each academic year featuring performances by its instrumental, vocal and early music ensembles, as well as professional ensembles and soloists. From its orchestra and wind ensemble to its choir and Baroque ensembles, the department actively promotes the interpretation of both classical and modern repertoire, including works by its faculty composers.

Cinema Studies offers rigorous work in the fundamentals of film history, technology, and culture, following that cultural history as it evolved from the nickelodeons and silent shorts of 1900 to the digital video and global Internet networks of today. Students in this program gain not only a solid foundation in the complex facts of the cinema but also the abilities and tools to think carefully and critically about that media.
