Student Performing Arts Newsletter
Spring 2009

Welcome...

...to the latest edition of the Student Performing Arts Newsletter. Our Advisory Board members have been hard at work this year producing the newsletter, working on by-laws and planning some exciting events. If you are still performing (or would like to), consider joining us this homecoming for a late night student/alumni cabaret on Friday, November 6th at the Platt House!

We hope this newsletter is just one way to keep in touch with our extended family. Feel free to forward to friends, and if you didn't receive the newsletter directly from us, please let us know at platthouse@pobox.upenn.edu and we will add you to the mailing list.

Inside...

  |   Erin Reilly C'01 reflects on the impressive list of awards and recognitions earned by Penn Performing Arts students and groups last year.

  |   Alumni and students share personal notes.

  |   An interview with Marya Sea Kaminski C'99, conducted by Alexandra S. Feinson C'11.

Platt House Fundraising Drive

Thanks to those of you who have already given to the Platt House this year. We sent out over 500 letters and the response has been terrific, but we haven't hit our goal yet. If you didn't receive a letter, perhaps we don't have a correct mailing address for you or we may have missed you — of course we still need your support!

Our goal is to raise at least $3000 for Platt House maintenance and programming. This goes towards the sometimes not-so-glamorous things like piano tuning, the costs of which have more than quadrupled since we moved into the Platt House; replacing broken chairs; travel costs for guest speakers; and some more glamorous things, like our new arts pre-orientation program, PennArts, which introduces 40 incoming students to the vast arts opportunities at Penn and the Philadelphia region for four days before New Student Orientation.

To donate, please visit the Platt House website and click "Support Our Work". Or mail a check made out to Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania to the address listed on our contact information page.
