Student Grant Guidelines
The Penn Women’s Center and the Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Program Initiatives has recently received a grant from the Department of Justice to expand and create programs on campus that address issues pertaining to violence against women. As part of this project, we will be distributing grants to student organizations who would like to execute programs which address dating and domestic violence, sexual assault and/or stalking.
Goals of the student grants:
- Increase awareness and education at Penn around issues pertaining to violence against women, specifically dating violence, stalking and sexual assault.
- Help student organizations offset the costs for programs related to dating violence, stalking and sexual assault.
Eligibility and Requirements:
- The grant money must be used for a program that addresses prevention, education, or awareness about dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. This can include presentations, conference costs, productions, et cetera. If your intended program does not focus primarily on these issues, but is related to violence prevention, you may still be eligible.
- Grants will only be awarded to Penn students; this includes graduate and professional students.
- You can receive up to $500.00 per event in the form of a grant to be used for the program if your proposal is accepted. We ask that you fill out the attached application and submit it for consideration.
- Please allow two weeks for your grant request to be reviewed for possible approval. If your request is dependent on printing and distributing materials (such as shirts or posters) allow up to six weeks for possible approval.
- Any printed materials funded by the grant money must be submitted for approval before production or distribution. This includes shirts, posters, flyers, etc.
- If you receive a grant, you will be asked to complete a brief evaluation of the event/program. The evaluation will ask how many people attended, what materials were distributed and how the money was spent. You will also be asked to supply receipts of all money spent.
- The same group/organization can apply for a grant more than once, as long as it is for a separate event.
You may fax or drop off your completed application to the Penn Women’s Center.
