Clinton Global Initiative University

I am excited to announce the launch of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) 2009 student application. CGI U is an initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation that inspires the next generation of leaders to take effective action on pressing global challenges.

Universities are witnessing a growing number of students with the potential and passion to make a difference in the world. To advance these efforts, CGI U is pleased to invite young leaders from your campus to join President Clinton, students, activists, and university administrators at the CGI U second Annual Meeting from February 13th to15th, 2009 at the University of Texas at Austin.

CGI U places emphasis on action by helping young leaders to take concrete steps toward addressing issues in the areas of education, energy & climate change, human rights & peace, global health, and poverty alleviation. Each attendee makes a Commitment to Action - a tangible contribution toward solving a specific problem on his or her campus or in the wider global community.

Since the inaugural meeting in March 2008 at Tulane University, nearly 1,000 commitments have already been made by students and universities worldwide. Help us spread the word to your students so they don’t miss out - tell them to apply today, make their own commitments, and connect with other students who want to make a difference.

Attending CGI U is FREE and travel assistance is available for those who qualify.

The deadline for early decision applications to CGI U is November 7, 2008. The final deadline for applications is December 12, 2008. Make sure your school is represented and encourage your students to apply today. To learn more, visit CGIU.org and sign up for e-mail updates.

Sincerely, Keisha Senter Director, CGI U  _______________________________________________________________________

RealArts@Penn

Dear students:

I am very pleased to announce a new project of the College of Arts & Sciences, intended to support creative Penn undergraduates doing art in the realm of practice. It's called "RealArts@PENN" and in its first year RealArts is sponsoring six paid summer internships - at MTV Networks, Rolling Stone magazine, Brooklyn Films, Shore Fire Media, Grand Central
Publishing (former Warner Books), and Women Make Movies. Yes, RealArts will pay you a stipend to work in such venues. (And we're happy to say that RealArts internships and programs are open to students in all four undergraduate schools.)

Why are we doing this? What other projects will we sponsor? How do you apply? Go here

and find out more.
