The Penn Women's Center mission is to understand and address the continuing and evolving needs of women on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania (primarily its students, but also faculty and staff). We strive to be a welcoming, comfortable, exciting place to foster community, expand awareness, and enhance the educational experience for the women of Penn.
The Women's Center – located at the heart of campus and open most days and evenings – offers the perfect space for women to congregate, study, relax or team up for civic engagement projects both large and small. We also provide opportunities for networking and mentoring between students and their peers, students and faculty, students and alumnae, and students and local and national women's organizations.
The Women's Center is a resource/educational facility, presenting and sponsoring programs on career issues, stress management, parenting, sexual violence prevention and wellness alongside programs that highlight women writers, activists and artists. On a larger scale, we also focus on economic, political and global matters. We play an advocacy and support role regarding issues of safety and equity for women and we are a resource to turn to for a host of concerns including health and child care, workplace discrimination, domestic and sexual violence and mental health concerns. Services include crisis intervention, institutional advocacy re: policy creation and implementation, outreach, and referrals to appropriate on and off campus resources.
