Nina has BA from the University of Pennsylvania in African-American Studies and Sociology where she has spent ten years in student affairs focusing on program development and student advising. She is a certified Pennsylvania domestic violence advocate and has been an active member of the Penn Violence Prevention Committee since its inception.  Nina works to provide programming, training and consultation for the Penn community on variety of subjects including intimate partner violence, sexual assault and healthy relationships; diversity awareness; and conflict resolution.  In addition to education and awareness work on campus, Nina serves as an advocate and resource counselor, assisting individuals whom have been directly and indirectly impacted by interpersonal violence by providing personal support and helping them to navigate and access the vast resources available to service their needs. She is currently pursuing her MLA at the Penn in Gender and Sexuality Studies.

At a very early age, Nina was taught the value and power of activism. Through her passion for performance art and work as a community activist and consultant, she has partners with organizations and schools across the country to engage students and professionals of all ages in anti-violence education and activism, developing leadership, and creating safe spaces and support for lgbt people and challenging individuals and organizations to expand their understanding of and commitment to racial, gender and sexual diversity.

In 2005 she was recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as one of the region's Top 30 Under 30. Now over 30 and a new mother, she continues to deepen her personal and professional commitment to social justice and nurturing of young leadership - particularly that of her budding feminist son.
