The Penn Professional Women's Network Awards

Awards for 2006

The Robert E. Davies Award: Regina Austin, William A. Schnader Professor of Law and Afaf Meleis, Margaret Bond Simon Dean of Nursing. This award is in honor of the late feminist and distinguished Penn scholar, and recognizes individual(s) for their work for social change on campus and beyond.

The Lenore Rowe Williams Award: Dr. Roselyn Eisenberg, professor of microbiology/Vet Med.; Elena Marie DiLapi, and Gloria M. Gay, Penn Women’s Center. This award honors the wife of the former Provost Edwin B. Williams. It is given to a distinguished female scholar/leader whose contributions extend within and beyond the campus.

The Alice Paul Awards: Niva Kramek C ’06, Jennifer Lane C ’05, Lisa Rothfarb C ’06, Desiree Tunstall C ’06; Excelano Project Executive Committee: Amma Asare C ’06, Tracey Gilbert C ’06, Stephen Danley C ’07, Pablo Sierra C ’06, Caroline Rothstein C ’06. Named for the suffragist leader and Penn alumna who founded the National Women’s Party and authored the Equal Rights Amendment, these are awarded to students, who have demonstrated outstanding service to women in the Penn community.

The Lynda Hart Award: Shira Bergman, C ’06. This award is given to a woman student who has made an outstanding contribution to the artistic life on campus. Established in 2001 in memory of Dr. Hart, professor of English and Theatre Arts who was a mentor to many and a moving force behind the Women’s Theatre Festival.

Judith Seitz Rodin Prize for Innovative Leadership: Caroline Rothstein, C ’06.This award is given to a junior or senior woman who has demonstrated innovative leadership through a program, service, or scholarly activity.
