Sister to Sister
Sister to Sister was formed in 1981 as an active, exciting and fun group of women of the African Diaspora (including African-American, Haitian, Caribbean, and African ethnicities) who support each other through their experiences at Penn. This group met monthly, totaling seven meetings this year, with an average of 15 members per meetings. Some of the activities of Sister to Sister this year included building strong connections with other women of color, sponsoring a Kwanzaa potluck dinner, and facilitating a discussion on the principle Imani and the role of Kwanzaa in our lives. The members also participated in local activities within the Philadelphia community such as attending movies, plays, etc .together and sponsoring potluck dinners through out the year. Additionally, the group provided a safe and positive atmosphere where women of the African Diaspora discussed issues affecting them as women at Penn.
