Allergy and Immunization

Allergy shots:

The following information is for both new and returning students.

If you are already on a desensitization program and want to continue it at SHS you must click on the links below and review the information.

At your first visit you will need to bring your serums and your doctor's orders. For incomplete or hard to decipher orders your Allergist may be asked to complete the Physician Data form below. Desensitization therapy cannot begin until all forms are received.

SHS offers refrigeration and storage of allergy serums as a convenience for our students but assumes no responsibility for them.

*International students, please note that all allergy orders must be from a US Board-certified Allergist and the serums must be manufactured here in the US. A SHS provider can assist students in locating an allergist in Philadelphia if needed.

Allergy injections are provided at no additional charge. They are performed daily by appointment by the allergy nurse.

Allergy evaluation:

If you think you may be experiencing symptoms related to an allergy you can make an appointment to see one of our Primary Care providers by calling 215.746.3535 or click on "Schedule an Appointment" for more information.

Immunization program:

All full-time students must be protected against certain diseases. Full-time and part-time students who live on campus must comply with the meningococcal requirement. Please click here for details.

Failure to meet the requirements will result in denial of student registration privileges.

The deadlines for submission of online immunization history is July 1,2011.

Travel immunizations:

In addition to required immunizations for full-time students, SHS also provides immunizations for travel abroad. These immunizations are given in conjunction with a travel consultation with one of our providers. If you will be traveling and think you may need immunizations, please call 215.746.3535 to make an appointment for a travel consult at least 4-6 weeks before your anticipated departure date as many vaccines take some time to become active in the body.
