Hepatitis B is a viral infection of the liver. This infection is typically transmitted via blood and other bodily fluids, with the typical mode of transmission vaginal or anal sex. Additionally, this infection can also be transmitted via shared needles. Transmission is also possible from the mother to the fetus during pregnancy. The best protection against Hepatitis B transmission is through the consistent use of either the male or female condom.

Initially, there are few symptoms associated with Hepatitis B. However, if left untreated, Hepatitis B can lead to cirrhosis of the liver, liver ancer, liver failure, and death.

 Treatment of Hepatitis B consists of antibiotics and monitoring of liver function studies through routine blood analysis at Women's Health or Student Health.
