Beginning with the 2008-2009 insurance plan, we will be adjusting the period of coverage for the Penn Student Insurance Plan (PSIP). This change will benefit incoming students, many of whom move to Philadelphia during the summer and who need access to health care and health insurance prior to the traditional beginning of the Fall semester, while continuing to provide coverage for students throughout most of the summer.
This transition will occur in two phases. In the first phase, the 2008-2009 PSIP will provide coverage from September 1, 2008 through August 14, 2009. This is a one-time change in effective dates. Thereafter, the insurance plan will run from August 15 through August 14, providing uninterrupted coverage.

PSIP Premium Rates for 2008-2009 (single student coverage).

* Since the spring term is shortened by 14 days, students who leave the University at the end of the fall term and qualify to have the spring term PSIP premium reversed, will have a reversal of the amount of $1223. This represents the premium cost for 03/01/09-08/14/08.

Coverage for summer 2008:

Graduate students starting University programs in July or August 2008 may enroll in the 2008 summer plan at a prorated premium. Note: If you are in a program that is paying for your insurance, please check with your school to make certain they will cover the entire amount.


Enrollment of Dependents

Covered students may enroll their lawful spouse/domestic partner and unmarried dependent children under age 19 who reside with, and are fully supported by, the covered student for the same coverage. Students may enroll their eligible dependents when the student enrolls. Covered students may enroll their eligible dependents by the specified deadline(s) by visiting www.chickering.com .

The dependent enrollment deadline date for the Fall Semester is September 15, 2008. The enrollment deadline date for the Spring Semester is January 31, 2009. The enrollment deadline date for the Summer Semester is May 30, 2009. The Dependent Enrollment Form and premium will not be accepted after the deadline.
