Peace of Mind in Stressful Times Program
Are you feeling stressed out? Need to learn how to relax? Student Health Service offers individualized stress reduction sessions to Penn students who might be feeling a bit overwhelmed by daily pressures, or who are just interested in exploring alternative approaches for coping with stress.The stress reduction sessions will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your concerns with Sandi Herman, a caring health and wellness educator. You will learn concrete strategies for coping with stress:
- Develop a personalized plan of action that will identify positive steps that you can take to stay focused in the present moment and feel more balanced in the midst of stressful situations.
- Discuss various ways to manage your time and communicate more clearly with others.
- Learn self-care methods, such as mindful breathing and guided imagery, self-massage, qigong and other mind/body techniques.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and confidential. Penn students receive one session free for each academic year. Subsequent sessions during the same academic year are $40, and not covered by insurance.

WholeBreath Smoking Cessation
Are you a smoker? Would you like to quit? Schedule an appointment with Health and Wellness Educator Sandi Herman to discuss a holistic approach to becoming a non-smoker, through "WholeBreath Smoking Cessation." Sandi will assist you in becoming more aware of the patterns of your smoking habit, and provide you with strategies and techniques, including meditation, journaling, and guided imagery, to make quitting possible. Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and confidential. Penn students receive one session free for each academic year. Subsequent sessions during the same academic year are $40, not covered by insurance.
