Trichomonas

Trichomonas is a STI that is transmitted through contact with the bodily fluids of an infected individual, including vaginal and anal intercourse.

Common symptoms of trichomonas include increased vaginal discharge that may appear yellow-green in color. Often this discharge is associated with a foul odor and external genital itching and irritation.

Diagnosis of trichomonas is relatively easy. The health care provider will take a small amount of vaginal discharge and examine it using a high powered microscope.

Trichomonas is easily treated with oral antibiotics which can be provided at Women's Health. All sexual partners must be treated concurrently.
