WholeBreath Smoking Cessation

Are you a smoker?  Would you like to quit?  The Department of Health Promotion and Education is offering WholeBreath ™, a holistic smoking cessation program to assist smokers in quitting their habit.  This unique program combines behavioral counseling with other healing modalities, including meditation, guided imagery, and energy work.  Participants will not only receive the personalized attention necessary to support their decision to quit, but also learn techniques for reducing their stress and facing life’s many challenges with calm and balance.  The sessions are free to Penn students, confidential, and 50 minutes in length.

Sandi Herman, M.S., Health and Wellness Educator
Sandi has developed and offers the WholeBreath™ smoking cessation program.  Sandi’s background is in social work and health education.  Before entering the field of smoking cessation, she worked for 20 years at the Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center for Women, as the director of Counseling, Training and Education.   During this time, she studied various healing modalities, including Reiki, mindfulness meditation, acupressure, guided visualization and qigong.  In 2001, she moved to the Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania, where she spent six years counseling individuals and groups on smoking cessation.  She has been providing this smoking cessation program to Penn students since 2007.
