Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
MBCT is specifically designed to help people who suffer repeated episodes of depression and chronic unhappiness. It is offered in a group setting and combines principles of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness. Participants become acquainted with the modes of mind that often characterize mood disorders while simultaneously learning to develop a new relationship to them.
Duration: Eight weeks (plus a mandatory orientation session) program with a Day of Mindfulness on Sunday, March 25th, after week 6 of the program.
Orientation: Tuesday, January 30th, 4:45-6:45 pm
Meeting Dates: Tuesdays, starting February 6th through April 3rd, including a Day of Mindfulness on Sunday, March 25th. There will be no session on March 6th in observance of Spring Break
Location: CAPS, 3624 Market Street, 1st Floor
You must be able to commit to ALL the sessions and the day of mindfulness. You cannot continue with the group if you do not attend the orientation and the first session.
