Professional Associations

  • Association of American Geographers - a nonprofit scientific and educational society founded in 1904. For more than 100 years the AAG has contributed to the advancement of geography.

  • Geological Society of America - dedicated to maintaining an organizational climate where differing ideas, abilities, backgrounds, and needs are fostered with opportunities for members from divergent experiences to participate and contribute. The GSA recognizes that diverse perspectives are important and necessary for responsible and representative decision-making and leadership.

  • Geospatial Information & Technology Association (link is external): The professional association and leading advocate for anyone using geospatial technology to help operate, maintain, and protect the infrastructure, which includes organizations such as utilities, telecommunication companies, and the public sector.

  • International Association for Mathematical Geosciences: An organization whose mission is to promote, worldwide, the advancement of mathematics, statistics and informatics in the Geosciences.

  • International Statistical Institute (ISI) - The ISI is unmatched in its global reach among statisticians and those interested in the field of statistics. We are also an association that links national statistical societies, with special focus on the societies in developing regions of the world. A majority of the world's central bureaus of statistics are represented within the ISI network. 

  • International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) - the Union aims to promote development of the Earth sciences through the support of broad-based scientific studies relevant to the entire Earth system; to apply the results of these and other studies to preserving Earth's natural environment, using all natural resources wisely and improving the prosperity of nations and the quality of human life; and to strengthen public awareness of geology and advance geological education in the widest sense.
