Ideas for Collaboration

What We Can Do, What You Can Do

Advisors in Career Services appreciate the unique relationship you have with your students. We would be pleased to support your programs and involve you in ours.

What We Do

Speak at department-wide programs
We would be glad to present information about Career Services, or answer any questions about what we do and how we work with students. (Contact us)

Speak in classes and work with Student Advisory Boards on special programs or workshops
We are often invited to come to classes, senior seminars, graduate programs to speak with students about crucial career issues related to their studies, and/or to offer special seminars on career options for specific disciplines/majors. Please let us know if you would like us to prepare a panel or program for your students. (Contact us)

Work with you to collect additional data on your alumni and current students
Because we already have excellent instruments for surveying alumni, departments have occasionally asked us to help them survey their specific alumni. Please let us know if you would be interested in such a collaboration. We can also provide aggregated data on the use of our resources by your students, and departments have often used these types of date in their reviews and accreditations. Requests to share data can be made by filling out this form - someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

What You Can Do

Encourage your students to use Career Services
Many students look to their faculty for direction and guidance on "what to do next." Please encourage your students to visit our website and use our services. Career Services advisors have a great deal of experience with a wide range of career issues and choices, and we are eager to help students at all stages of their careers.

Speak at Career Services programs and panels
We host over 300 programs and workshops each year. Some of these are directed toward graduate students, and are comprised of faculty presenters; others (focused more toward undergraduates) could greatly benefit from faculty participation. Please let us know if you would be available to participate in career-related programming. (Contact us)

Suggest topics for Career Services programs
If you have ideas for programs that you would like us to offer, please let us know. (Contact us)

Identify alumni who want to participate in career programs or panels
We make extensive use of alumni/ae as panelists or solo speakers. If you know of graduates from your program who you think would be good speakers, we would be glad to include them in upcoming panels. (Contact us)

Meet with employers interested in hiring your students
Many employers express interest in meeting with key faculty across all departments. If you would be willing or interested in meeting with employers, please let us know and we'll be sure to contact you when someone will be coming to campus. (Contact us)
