Advisors are available to provide guidance and answer questions about the application process, course requirements (if applicable), resumes and admissions essays, developing a list of schools, and the other application components. Appointments should be scheduled in advance either online via Handshake, in person at Career Services, or via telephone at 215-898-1789. For alumni who live outside of the Philadelphia area, telephone appointments are available.
Admissions Essays and Resume Critiques
Advisors can critique your admissions essays and resumes for graduate and professional school applications. If you are having trouble developing the content of your essay or would like to discuss options in more detail, feel free to make an appointment with an advisor. Advisors can provide up to two full critiques of each document per applicant in a given application cycle.
Graduate and Professional School Event Programming
Throughout the year, a full programming schedule for applying to graduate and professional school is sponsored by Career Services to provide students with relevant information on preparing for, and being successful in, the admissions process. Career Services also coordinates a variety of panels each semester focusing on specific graduate programs, in which admissions staff, faculty, and graduate students are often represented at these programs.
Information sessions and panel discussions by admissions representatives are held throughout the year, but primarily in the fall semester. This progoramming provides students with an opportunity to meet with admissions representatives and learn more about their particular programs and institutions.
Located directly across from the Reception area, the Career Services Library contains a variety of graduate and professional school resources. Reference materials on various graduate programs, standardized test preparation guides, as well as information about financial aid and essay writing are located in the graduate school section. In addition to our regular office hours (9am-5pm), Monday through Friday, the Library is open until 6pm (when classes are in session) a few days out of the week.
Career Services is open from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. In addition, during the academic year, the Career Services Library remains open until 6:00pm, Monday through Wednesday.
Career Services is located in Suite 20 of the McNeil Building (3718 Locust Walk),which is located between 37th and 38th Streets, directly across from Vance Hall.
